In these times of personal struggle
and grief in our country, we have families struggling
to maintain some semblance of order in their lives
while coping with the loss of a loved one.
Although we may offer our condolences and say that
we share their sorrow and feel their pain, the fact
is that after the crowds thin and the families are
left to themselves, the pain continues and will never
completely go away.
The
first honoree of the 1st Annual "Fallen
Marine Memorial Run" in 2006 was Marine Sgt. Sean
H. Miles of Midlothian Virginia, who was killed in action
in Iraq on January 24, 2006 while rescuing
another Marine who was in need of assistance. Sean left
behind a wife, a son, mother, father, sister, brother,
grandmother and grandfather and many others whom he touched
and left behind. The mother and father of Sean, Mike
and Deb Miles, have expressed their support of this mission
and was probably best put by Mike Miles when he said, "Some
Gave All, All gave Some and Some Still Give".
Just as Sean died offering support to
another human being, we too should reach out to offer
support to those
families. Even the smallest act of kindness can make
a difference in the lives of a suffering and grieving
family and you dont have to be any more than just
one person to do that.

In 2006, a few concerned former combat veterans from Desert
Storm and Vietnam pulled together their resources and brought
together a team of high-spirited Americans who truly care
about their brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice
and sponsored the 1st Annual Fallen Marine Memorial
Run. In 2007, they continued to support the families of another
of their fallen brothers and will continue to do so until
they cant do it anymore.
Those two veterans who started the "Fallen Marine Memorial
Run" are just ordinary American citizens who care deeply
for their country and those who fight for its freedom.
Their dream is to touch other caring Americans and let them
know that they too can reach out and touch the families of
our fallen brothers and sisters lost in the struggle for
freedom. The comfort, which can be offered to those suffering
families, is the least we can do to say thank you to those
who give and continue to give.
If
you are in a position to share this story with others who
might be inspired to do the same for these grieving families,
please tell them about The Fallen Marine Memorial Run. If
only one person can be touched and a small glimmer of hope
can
be
brought
into
the lives
of
those
families who
are suffering then we have done a good thing.
Our hope is that someone of some prominence
will see this story as an opportunity to do some good for
our fellow Americans
and inspire another to do the same. Im sure there are
a lot of well-intentioned Americans out there who would help
if they knew how and if they only had the confidence to pursue
this endeavor.
